Body Worn Cameras SOP
The purpose of this policy is to maintain uniform guidelines for the lawful use and operation of the
agency-authorized body worn camera recording system (BWC).
Random Drug Testing
This protocol pertains to the random drug testing of sworn officers of the Kearny Police Department.
Early Intervention System
An Early Warning System (“EW System”) is an important management tool designed to detect patterns and trends in police conduct before that conduct deteriorates into misconduct.
Commendations and Complaints:
Commendations or complaints are accepted from any person at any time, even anonymously. These may be communicated in-person, telephonically, by mail, by e-mail or other means. Information sheets and complaint forms may be found in 11 languages at the following link: Internal Affairs Forms in 11 Languages. The information sheets therein explain the roles of the Internal Affairs investigators and the complainants, while the complaint forms provide a standardized means through which one may document a complaint. Personal identifying information is optional.
Completed complaint forms may be delivered or mailed to 237 Laurel Avenue, Kearny, NJ 07032, or may be emailed to Internal Affairs Supervisor, Sergeant Michal Gontarczuk, at mgontarczuk@kearnynjpd.org.
